Recruitment of Constables in J&K Police | KNO

Written test of 27844 candidates for the post of Constable in Jammu and Kashmir Police was held today at 61 examination centres across the State.

Director General of Police Dr. S.P. Vaid visited the examination centres at Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh, Srinagar and Government Degree College, Higher Secondary School, Budgam. He took stock of the arrangements made for smooth conduct of the examination. Chairman Recruitment Board Surinder Kumar Gupta, IGP (Hqrs.) PHQ and Gh. Hassan Bhat, DIG CKR Srinagar accompanied the DGP.
In the first phase of recruitment, out of 118217 applicants, about 96000 candidates appeared for the physical endurance and physical standard tests held at different venues across the State. 27844 including 1814 female candidates qualified for the written test held at all district headquarters of the State.
More than 2200 officers and police personnel were deployed for examination duty at these centres. Besides efficient security arrangements were made around the centres for smooth and fair conduct of the final phase of recruitment process.
Dr. Vaid while talking to media persons outside the examination centre at Budgam, said that the whole recruitment process has been conducted in a transparent manner with the help of modern gadgets and the grievances of any candidate raised have been sorted out on the spot. He advised the candidates not to pay any heed to the brokers who would try to lure them on ill promises. Only meritorious candidates would get berth in the selection list, said the DGP.
He also appealed the people to cooperate with the police in identifying and apprehending the people involved in braid chopping. He said that police public cooperation is necessary to arrest the culprits. He asked the people not to take law in their hands and let the police to work. (KNS)
